I like the idea of people participating and a technical community to rate and vote for the
best designs, but actually the "community" does not exist, it became mostly a club of fans,
friends and family of the contestants, then what relevance the votes have to help
pick the best designs ... imho, not much.

<summary type="html">I count 19 projects that appear to have 'finished' phase 3 (not counting RadioRuler who has stated that he is bowing out).

So almost half of us have a chance...!

It's never been stated how the community votes are really counted. If the community counts for 50%..., well, 50% of what? If the 3 judges are the other 50%, how does it work?

I guess one way would be like this:
Assume there are a total of 333 community votes across all the projects, then each judge gets to cast 111 votes in total, for any project that meets the basic requirements.

Or, it could be that the 3 judges get together and agree on their top 8, then each of those top 8 gets [333 / 8 = 41.625] votes added to their community votes. It would be possible for the judges to deliberately 'skew' their votes to help folks that don't have many community votes. So suppose 'A' has 100 C-votes, and 'B' has 10 C-votes, but the judges think that 'B' is a better project, they could help 'stuff the ballot-box' for 'B' to push him into the top 8.

However it works, I'm hoping that it works in my favor, since I don't have very many community votes... -_-

I didn't find anywhere a clear indication for how long the voting process will be open.

What sounds ironic with this process is that people already voted before we finished with
this phase, then what people have been voting for ?

Also, besides clearing the votes and ratings from the previous phase nothing seems to
have changed to make the process more transparent and fair.

Anyway, we'll see what happens.

But I've also been in the contracting game and consumer electronics business long enough to realize that compromises like this are normal. And nice job on the project and the video, Jorge.

I've learned since my earlier message that voting isn't frozen yet (or at least the admin that responded didn't think they are supposed to be). I'm glad to know that, but would like to know how long voting will be open.
